Kazakhstan, Estonia Sign Oilseed Cooperation Deal at Gulfood

Kazakhstan’s National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA) and Estonia’s Aktsiaselts Letofin have signed a memorandum of cooperation following a roundtable chaired by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov on the sidelines of the Gulfood 2026 in Dubai.

The agreement provides for the procurement of oil and fat products worth at least $5 million from Kazakhstan, marking an important step toward strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

NOPA Chairman Yadykar Ibragimov noted that oil and fat products produced in Kazakhstan are in strong demand on European markets. He said Kazakhstan currently ranks third in the EU in terms of sunflower meal export volumes, and the new agreement is expected not only to increase supplies but also to significantly expand the export potential of the entire sector.

Ibragimov also pointed to growing interest from Gulf countries, particularly in premium bottled sunflower oil. Several oil-processing plants in Kazakhstan plan to launch new refining and packaging lines in 2026, enabling the creation of export-oriented brands and entry into new market segments.

Kazakhstan secured record-breaking contracts at Gulfood 2026, highlighting the country’s rising profile in global agri-food markets.
