Russia Ready to Finance Export-Logistics Center in Tajikistan’s Khatlon

The Tajik Export Agency has announced that Tajikistan is looking to strengthen cooperation with major Russian retail centers.

The two countries are planning to establish a joint export logistics center in the Khatlon Region to streamline trade and enhance market access, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Bahriddin Sirojiddinzoda, Director of Tajikistan’s Export Agency, and Alexander Ribas, the newly appointed Trade Representative of Russia in Tajikistan.

“The meeting addressed the creation of a joint export-logistics center in Khatlon, with proposals to involve interested Russian companies and banks in its construction and operation,” the Tajik agency said in a statement. Ribas confirmed Russia’s readiness to assist in securing financing for the project.

Officials also reviewed the current state and future prospects of Tajik-Russian cooperation in the export sector. Tajikistan has significant potential to expand exports of early and seasonal agricultural products and industrial goods and is eager to collaborate with leading Russian retail chains.

Currently, Tajikistan primarily exports fresh fruits, dried fruits, leather, cotton, and other goods to Russia, underscoring the importance of closer trade ties between the two nations.
