Russian Leader Sends Warm Independence Day Greetings to Tajikistan

On the eve of Tajikistan’s Independence Day, Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory message to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

In his message, President Putin praised Tajikistan’s achievements over 34 years of independence, particularly in the socio-economic sphere, and noted that the country has gained well-deserved recognition on the international stage, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

The Russian leader also highlighted the strong strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Tajikistan, stating: “Our countries cooperate effectively across multiple areas, coordinating efforts within the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States], CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organization], SCO [ Shanghai Cooperation Organisation], UN [United Nations], and other multilateral frameworks.”

President Putin expressed confidence that bilateral relations will continue strengthening, benefiting the peoples of both nations and supporting security and stability in the Central Asian region. He wished President Rahmon good health and success, and extended his greetings to all citizens of Tajikistan, wishing them peace and prosperity.

Independence Day, the main national holiday of Tajikistan, is celebrated annually on September 9. In 2025, the country marked its 34th anniversary of independence with two public holidays, on September 8-9.
