Tajikistan Celebrates World Food Day with Festival Highlighting Sustainable Food and Water

The gardens of Serena Hotel buzzed with life as the city hosted a vibrant World Food Day Festival in Tajikistan's Dushanbe.

This year’s theme, “Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind,” spotlighted the urgent need for sustainable food systems and equal access to resources worldwide, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The festival also marked the 80th anniversary of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), celebrating decades of work to combat hunger and boost food security. Visitors enjoyed an agricultural exhibition, children’s theater, and live concerts, blending culture, cuisine, and community engagement.

World Food Day, observed annually on October 16, unites governments, non-government organizations (NGOs), and communities worldwide in the fight against hunger, underscoring the link between food security, peace, and sustainable development.
