The Tajik Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment has reported significant progress in managing migration flows, expanding overseas employment opportunities, and protecting migrant workers’ rights during the first six months of 2025.
To diversify labor migration and regulate workforce movements, the ministry signed 37 international agreements with 15 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, South Korea, and Japan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.
Among these, 13 agreements focus specifically on labor migration and are actively being implemented. Additionally, nine draft agreements with countries such as Georgia, Poland, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Russia, and Croatia are currently under negotiation.
In the first half of 2025, 29 licensed agencies facilitated the overseas employment of 9,478 Tajik citizens, with 5,648 individuals placed through the State Agency for Employment Abroad.
South Korea has allocated 800 labor quotas for Tajik workers under its Employment Permit System. Of 35 candidates trained in Korean language, 26 passed the qualifying exam successfully, and preparations for a new candidate group are underway, indicating growing bilateral cooperation.
In Japan, 68 Tajik nationals have registered for employment, with four already hired and eight others passing interviews.
From January 28 to 31, Tajik and Russian officials held substantive talks in Moscow, focusing on labor migration, workforce training, and joint projects. Discussions emphasized expanding employment channels and sharing expertise in labor management. Over 80 Russian companies have shown interest in recruiting Tajik workers through organized programs, signaling rising demand for Tajik specialists.
The ministry also prioritized strengthening relations with Saudi Arabia, holding key meetings with the Saudi minister of human resources and the chairman of Arco company.
At a recent press conference, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international cooperation, safeguarding migrant rights, and ensuring the safe and lawful employment of Tajik citizens abroad.
