Tajikistan, Qatar Commit to Enhancing Diplomatic and Economic Ties

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has met with Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in Doha on the sidelines of an extraordinary OIC meeting, expressing satisfaction with the steady growth of bilateral relations grounded in shared interests and the principles of friendship and brotherhood.

President Rahmon highlighted the successful outcomes of high-level visits between the two countries last year, emphasizing the agreements reached during these exchanges, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The sides discussed the need to further strengthen political ties and expand cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transport and communications, industry, mining and mineral processing, and agriculture, stressing the mutual benefits of such collaboration.

They also explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in culture, science, education, and tourism, while reviewing bilateral engagement within international and regional frameworks, including the United Nations, the OIC, and other multilateral organizations.

The meeting reportedly included a frank discussion on regional developments following recent military strikes on Qatar. The talks covered bilateral relations, strategies to deepen cooperation, and regional and international issues of shared concern, including the recent Israeli military actions, alongside other summit agenda topics.

The meeting was attended by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and Chief of the Amiri Diwan, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi. President Rahmon was accompanied by the official Tajik delegation.
