A unique architectural monument dating back to the 9th-12th centuries has been discovered in Tajikistan’s Dangara district, offering a potential new window into the region’s medieval history.

Specialists from the country’s Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage identified the monument in the village of Gargara, within the Korez rural jamoat (local government body), according to Khovar.

Researchers say the site holds significant historical and scientific value, and work is now focused on studying and preserving the newly identified monument.

The discovery was made as part of a broader effort to identify, document and conserve ancient monuments across Tajikistan.

Experts expect further research to provide valuable information about the region’s architecture, history and cultural development during the medieval period.

A detailed scientific and analytical report will be prepared once the ongoing studies are completed, with the findings expected to be made public afterward.
