Tajikistan Unveils New Industrial Zone, Boosting Economic Modernization in Dushanbe

Tajikistan has officially inaugurated a new industrial zone in the northern part of Dushanbe’s Ismoili Somoni district, marking a major step forward in the country’s industrial development and economic modernization agenda.

The ceremony, held on October 20, was attended by President Emomali Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

The highlight of the event was the launch of three production plants under Suntiles company, which are expected to generate over 650 jobs immediately. In addition, the foundation stones were laid for three additional factories, taking the total planned job creation in the zone to around 1,200 positions, including more than 300 roles earmarked for women.

Built on a rehabilitated 37‑hectare former construction‑waste site, the industrial park allocates 25 hectares for manufacturing facilities. Workers’ salaries in the new enterprises will range from 4,500 to 12,000 somonis, reflecting a commitment to offering competitive compensation.

Advanced, Eco‑Friendly Production Facilities

The first facility is a ceramic tile and porcelain‑stoneware plant with an annual output of 6.5 million m², including 3.5 million m² of porcelain stoneware. By using locally sourced raw materials and cutting‑edge digital machinery, this factory aims to meet up to 65 per cent of domestic demand. The investment totals 500 million somonis and includes a quality‑control laboratory staffed by 40 female analysts.

The second plant, backed by 150 million somonis, will produce lightweight aerated concrete blocks-three times lighter than standard bricks-at an annual capacity of 250,000 m³, covering about 30 per cent of Dushanbe’s construction material demand.

The third facility, built at a cost of 100 million somonis in Kharangon village (Varzob district), will produce 80,000 tons of lime annually using environmentally safe processes for use in metallurgy and construction.

Looking Ahead: Green Technology and Large‑Scale Investment

President Rahmon and Mayor Emomali also laid the groundwork for three new factories under Crystal Green Glass, with a combined investment of 1.2 billion somonis. These facilities will produce quartz, glass panels, and glass containers, and are expected to be operational within 18 months. Integral to the project are solar panels and steam turbines that will cover up to 80 per cent of the park’s energy needs, significantly reducing operating costs and environmental impact.

President Rahmon commended local authorities and entrepreneurs for their efforts, noting that the new industrial zone will serve as a model of technological progress and economic renewal for Tajikistan.
