Tajikistan Unveils Plan for Massive Tunnel Beneath River

Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe is set to construct a three-kilometer tunnel beneath the Khanqan River as part of a large infrastructure project aimed at improving urban mobility.

The tunnel will be built along the second section of the Gimpo-Paju high-speed highway, a key transport corridor designed to ease traffic and modernize the city’s road network, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Construction is being carried out using the largest tunneling complex in Tajikistan, equipped with real-time intelligent safety systems to ensure precision and minimize risks during excavation.

Deputy Transport Minister Farrukh Nematzodа and Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe Rahmiddin Salomzoda inspected the 6.73-kilometer second section of the highway, reviewing progress and construction technologies.
