Afghanistan, Turkmenistan Strengthen Cooperation in Water and Energy Sectors

In a recent meeting in Kabul, on Sunday, the Afghanistan’s Energy and Water Minister Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor and Turkmenistan’s Energy Minister Annageldi Saparov emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral ties and continuing constructive cooperation between their countries, The Caspian Post reports citing the Bakhtar News Agency.

Discussions focused on the expansion of collaboration, mainly in the transmission of 1,000MW of electricity from Turkmenistan to Kabul. The ministers also addressed the acceleration of the TAP 500 transmission project and joint efforts in the implementation of the significant TAPI project.

Minister Sprov extended condolences to the victims of the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan and conveyed Turkmenistan’s readiness to advance the agreed-upon projects. He noted that preliminary work on the TAPI project is progressing well.
