Turkmen-Pakistani Diplomatic Talks Strengthen Key Sector Partnerships

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry has hosted a Pakistani delegation led by Syed Ali Asad Gillani, Deputy Foreign Minister (Additional Secretary for West Asia and Afghanistan), marking a new stage in bilateral relations and reinforcing mutual interest in expanding cooperation across key sectors.

The political consultations, led on the Turkmen side by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, addressed the current state and future prospects of collaboration in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.

Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and enhancing partnerships within international and regional frameworks.

Officials highlighted the significance of the Turkmen-Pakistani Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and expressed interest in holding its next session soon. To further trade and economic cooperation, the parties supported establishing direct contacts between private sector representatives. Discussions also focused on improving the legal and contractual framework and advancing joint energy and transport projects, notably the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.

In a separate meeting, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Syed Ali Asad Gillani discussed bilateral cooperation and stressed the importance of coordination on the international political stage, highlighting the need for active dialogue between foreign policy institutions.

The talks concluded with an agreement to continue promoting transport and energy connectivity between Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and regional countries. The Ashgabat discussions confirmed that both nations are ready to move from words to action, advancing projects of bilateral and regional significance.
