Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the European Union has seen a sharp rise, reaching over $2.1 billion in 2025-almost double the previous year’s figures, signaling rapidly expanding economic ties.
The milestone was announced by Finance and Economy Minister Mammetsguly Astanagulov during a business forum in Ashgabat, held under the Turkmenistan-EU cooperation platform. Just a year earlier, trade turnover stood at around $1.1 billion, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Officials say Turkmenistan is now actively engaged in economic cooperation with nearly all EU member states, with partnerships spanning regional programs, bilateral projects, and targeted financial agreements.
The growing momentum follows high-level diplomatic engagement, including the 9th interparliamentary meeting in Brussels. The Turkmen delegation, led by Maksat Kulyyev, held talks with European representatives such as Giuseppina Princi, focusing on strengthening political and economic cooperation, as well as addressing regional and global issues.
The surge in trade comes alongside broader economic growth signals, with Turkmenistan also reporting increased oil and gas production in early 2026-further reinforcing its role as a key energy partner for Europe.
