UN Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, set to take place from August 5 to 8 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
Upon arrival at Türkmenbaşy International Airport, Guterres was greeted by National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council), Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.
During his visit, the UN Secretary-General is scheduled to hold high-level talks with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to discuss matters of bilateral cooperation and international partnership. He is also expected to meet separately with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The upcoming conference will bring together heads of state, government officials, and representatives of international and regional organizations to address the unique development challenges faced by landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).
