Afghanistan Emerges as Key Market for Uzbek Car Exports

Uzbekistan is eyeing a major expansion of its automotive exports, with Afghanistan emerging as a promising new market that could transform regional trade.

Davron Vakhabov, head of Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that car exports to Afghanistan could reach up to 100,000 vehicles annually-creating a market worth around $500 million, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The potential surge in exports is seen as a key driver for Uzbekistan’s efforts to diversify its economy and expand foreign trade. The move could unlock new revenue streams for businesses and strengthen the country’s position in regional markets.

A major part of this strategy centers on used vehicles. Experts say demand for pre-owned cars in Afghanistan is high, making this segment the most realistic and scalable option for Uzbek exporters.

If realized, the plan could reshape trade flows between the two countries, opening the door to deeper economic ties and long-term cooperation.

As Uzbekistan pushes to broaden its export base, Afghanistan’s growing demand may offer a timely and lucrative opportunity for the country’s automotive industry.
