Uzbek Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Khurram Teshabayev has said that Belarus and Uzbekistan are working on the creation of a joint specialized foreign trade company with offices in Minsk and Tashkent.
Teshabayev made these remarks at the third Belarus-Uzbek Women’s Business Forum, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
Teshabayev highlighted that Tashkent places high importance on strengthening trade and economic ties with Minsk. “Thanks to an active, open, and constructive dialogue, cooperation between our countries shows steady growth. Over the past year, collaboration has advanced actively across all sectors,” he said.
The new trade structure, combined with permanent showrooms in trade houses, is expected to accelerate product promotion, simplify logistics and customs procedures, and reduce costs for participants in foreign trade.
Agriculture is a key focus area, with Uzbekistan showing strong interest in Belarusian agricultural technologies and joint projects for processing and exporting agricultural products.
Teshabayev also emphasized that Uzbekistan offers a favorable investment climate, noting promising areas of cooperation such as machinery, textile, food, pharmaceutical, and electrical industries, as well as construction materials production.
“Our cooperation can be significantly expanded based on mutual complementarity and effective partnership. We invite Belarusian companies to establish joint manufacturing of high value-added products in Uzbekistan for export to South Asian markets. Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India-with a combined population of over 1.5 billion people-represent a huge market,” Teshabayev said.
