As of 23 September 2025, Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power plants have generated 8 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, official data shows.
This figure marks a significant milestone, with green energy now contributing more than 20% of the country’s total electricity production, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
The country currently operates 12 photovoltaic solar plants and 5 wind farms with a total installed capacity of 4,682 megawatts. Their output has helped save 2.424 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented 3.552 million tons of harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere.
In total, Uzbekistan’s hydro, solar, and wind power facilities generated 13.22 billion kWh of electricity between January and 23 September. Green energy thus accounted for 22% of the country’s total generation during this period.
Officials noted that this volume of electricity is equivalent to nine months of consumption for 7.3 million households, or the annual demand of 5.5 million households.
