Historic Khiva Becomes Hub for Strengthening Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan Economic Links

The historic city of Khiva has hosted a major Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan Business Forum, uniting regional officials and business leaders to advance economic ties and foster cooperation across key sectors including trade, industry, investment, and tourism.

A central topic of discussion was the joint development of the “Shovot-Dashoguz” cross-border trade zone, a strategic project both sides expect will significantly boost bilateral trade and facilitate smoother customs procedures and logistics, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

Participants also reviewed the favorable investment climate in Uzbekistan, with presentations on the economic potential of Khorezm Region, including its export-oriented industries and pipeline of high-potential investment projects.

To build on the forum’s outcomes, the sides agreed to organize a business mission from Khorezm Region to Dashoguz Region, aimed at reinforcing regional partnerships and accelerating joint initiatives.

The event concluded with B2B (business-to-business) and B2G (business-to-government) meetings, which led to the signing of several export contracts and cooperation memorandums, marking a significant step forward in regional economic integration and private sector engagement between the two neighboring nations.
