Uzbekistan is banking on tourism, international cooperation, and business, expecting 20 million people to fly through its newly planned Tashkent International Airport, set to open in 2030.

Uzbekistan is considering the construction of a new international airport in the Tashkent region. This airport is expected to open in 2030, serving 15 million passengers flying from and to Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post informs via ETN.

According to President Schawkat Mirsijojew, the current airport is reaching limits with little room to expand.

In the beginning stage, the new airport will be able to handle 20 million passengers a year, 169 planes, and 40 takeoffs and landings per hour. The country is looking for developers for this project.
