A consultative meeting under the Integrated Work Plan (IWP) for the development of nuclear infrastructure in Uzbekistan commenced today at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.
The IAEA representatives and the Uzbekistan delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Sardor Yakubboyev, are taking part in the event, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.
IAEA Director of the Division for Europe, Eve-Kulli Kala, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Austria, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, addressed the event.
At the meeting, Uzbekistan presented the national strategy for the development of nuclear energy in the country and information on the ongoing institutional reforms.
During the presentation, detailed information was provided on the legislative framework and measures to ensure public awareness and environmental safety.
The event will continue on May 6.
