On September 30, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Infantino highlighted Uzbekistan’s achievements in football and the results of reforms designed to provide comprehensive support for sports in the country, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uza.uz.

The main focus of the meeting was Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan’s hosting of the major FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation with FIFA in implementing joint programs to promote football, particularly among young people.

They discussed expanding the partnership, primarily to transform the football organization and governance system, support young talent development, and train coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors and technical specialists in line with international standards.

Particular attention was given to hosting major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan, as well as accelerating the opening of FIFA’s regional office in Tashkent.
