Oil-Containing Fluid Spills at Major Uzbek Hydrocarbon Field

A spill of oil-containing fluid has occurred at the “25 Years of Independence” hydrocarbon field in Surkhandarya region, southern Uzbekistan - one of the country’s largest oil fields.

The incident took place at the M-25 site in Boysun district, where oil-containing fluid surfaced, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Authorities say the situation is under constant monitoring, and the spill has been contained.

Collected fluid is being transported to a special facility with two isolated sludge pools, each with a 5,000 cubic meter capacity.

The Energy Ministry added that analytical tests of the fluid are underway. Findings will inform processing possibilities, while geological studies at the field continue.
