Passenger Train Collides with Truck in Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan

A passenger train carrying 216 people collided with a truck in Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan on October 6.

None of the passengers was injured, while the truck driver was hospitalized, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

This marks the second collision between a passenger train and a truck in the region over the past two months.

According to the press service of Uzbekistan Railways JSC, the incident occurred at 15:31 at the 531st kilometer of the railway line between Turtkul and Ellikkala stations, at an unguarded railway crossing. Passenger train No. 128, traveling on the Kungrad - Andijan route, struck a KamAZ truck whose driver had ignored the warning signs and entered the crossing.

The driver was taken to the hospital. All 216 passengers on board were unharmed. Since the locomotive was unable to continue the journey, another diesel engine was dispatched to the site and arrived at 16:15.

Law enforcement officers are investigating the case.
