Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, has met with Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ana Isabel Xavier, on the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, where Secretary Xavier praised Uzbekistan’s dynamic investment progress and affirmed Portugal’s commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties.
The discussions also focused on deepening partnerships in education, tourism, and cultural exchange, as well as fostering stronger interregional ties, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
Both sides emphasized that Portugal remains a key partner for Uzbekistan within the EU.
The two officials reaffirmed their shared commitment to mutual support within international organizations and agreed to continue an active and constructive dialogue across all areas of cooperation.
