Tourism in Uzbekistan Soars as Visitor Numbers Jump by Nearly 50%

From January to August 2025, Uzbekistan welcomed approximately 7.5 million foreign tourists, according to data released by the National Statistics Committee.

This marks a 49.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, representing nearly 2.5 million additional international visitors, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Kyrgyzstan ranked first with 2.16 million trips, up 48.9 percent from last year. Kazakhstan followed with 1.769 million arrivals (+73.5 percent), and Tajikistan came third with 1.699 million (+15.6 percent).

The number of travelers from Russia grew by nearly a quarter, reaching 663,200. Afghanistan climbed to fifth place with 304,500 visitors - its first time in the top 10 - while Turkmenistan came sixth with 243,500, a 2.3-fold increase from last year.

Among non-CIS countries, China became the leading source market, with tourist arrivals more than tripling to 135,400 compared with 42,000 a year earlier. Türkiye ranked eighth with 113,100 visitors, despite a 1.5-fold increase.

Uzbekistan also welcomed 42,200 visitors from India (+8 percent) and 30,000 from South Korea (+6.5 percent). Other countries collectively accounted for 349,800 travelers.

More than two-thirds of visits - 5.16 million - were for family visits. Nearly 1.15 million foreigners came for leisure and recreation, 837,500 for official purposes, and 287,700 for business. In addition, just over 62,000 visitors came for medical treatment and 14,200 as international students.
