Unknown Substance Sickens Students in Uzbekistan's Bukhara

The reports have surfaced on social media about a group of students being hospitalized in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara region with symptoms of poisoning.

The regional health department confirmed that the incident occurred at the Ilm Nuri educational center on Ulugbek Street in the Khuzhalar neighborhood of the Karakul district. Twenty students showed signs of exposure to an unknown substance, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

“All affected students were promptly taken to the district medical center, where they received necessary care,” the department said. The patients’ conditions improved, and they were discharged for outpatient treatment. Each student has been assigned a local family doctor and a supervising nurse to monitor recovery.

Authorities reported that the students’ health is currently satisfactory, with no complaints recorded. The cause of the incident is under investigation, and further information will be provided once the relevant examinations are completed.
