More than 40 people have been hospitalized with varying degrees of illness following a mass poisoning incident at a guesthouse in Vidnoye, Moscow Region, Russia.
Some 73 guests were staying at the facility when the incident occurred. Tragically, three people have died, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Investigators and forensic experts have inspected the guesthouse, collected relevant documentation, and taken samples of food and kitchenware for analysis. The Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare of the Russian Federation has also collected food samples for further testing.
Authorities are questioning the facility’s management and guests to determine the causes and conditions that led to the mass poisoning.
A criminal case has been opened under Russian law for providing services that failed to meet safety standards, resulting in mass poisoning (Part 2, Article 238 of the Criminal Code).
