Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has awarded the “Jasorat” medal to janitor Khairullo Ibadullaev for heroically saving a seven-year-old boy in Saint Petersburg.
Presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov said that the incident occurred on Petrozavodskaya Street when the boy, who has autism, fell from a window while playing on the windowsill, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Heroic Act Caught in the Moment
Ibadullaev, 37, jumped to catch the child and softened the fall with his own body, sustaining an arm injury in the process. The boy is currently in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
The janitor admitted he was deeply frightened by the incident. He arrived in Saint Petersburg just four months ago, leaving behind four children and his parents in Uzbekistan.
