Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Preparing to Create Caspian Green Corridor

A high-level roundtable titled “Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan: Architecture of Allied Cooperation” has been held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Baku, bringing together leading experts from both countries to map out the next phase of bilateral partnership.

Participants discussed expanding cooperation in the economy, education, culture, and humanitarian spheres, while placing special emphasis on strengthening the allied framework between Tashkent and Baku, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Akramjon Ne’matov, Deputy Director of Uzbekistan’s Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies, revealed that both sides are preparing to launch several joint initiatives. Among the key priorities are the creation of a “green corridor” across the Caspian Sea, the implementation of projects under the Silk Road framework, and the further development of transport and logistics connectivity.

“We aim to build a common platform to ensure the security of our projects and establish a joint center for resilience and cybersecurity,” Ne’matov stated.

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, also addressed the event, noting that relations between Baku and Tashkent have reached a qualitatively new level in recent years across multiple areas.

“Close contact between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is now established at all levels, including the highest,” the ambassador said, highlighting that the growing momentum has been driven by regular dialogue between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
