Law enforcement officers in Uzbekistan have detained a group of women in the Namangan district after discovering 627 grams of hashish during a vehicle inspection.

The incident occurred in the “Ravnaq” residential quarter, when officers stopped a Damas vehicle for routine verification. During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, two female passengers were found carrying two black plastic bags containing six wrapped packages of narcotics, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The detained women admitted they were transporting the drugs for delivery to other individuals in the Yangi Namangan district.

Operational measures led to the arrest of two additional women at the moment they were receiving the narcotics. All seized substances were properly documented as evidence.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 5 of Article 273 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which addresses the illegal sale of narcotic substances in large quantities. If convicted, the suspects could face significant prison terms.
