Uzbek Police Officers Shut Down Online Drug Shops and Labs

A major crackdown on internet-based drug trafficking in Uzbekistan has led to the dismantling of an extensive network of online drug shops and laboratories in the capital and surrounding region.

The representatives of the Uzbek State Security Service, working with law enforcement and customs officers, carried out raids across Tashkent and Tashkent Region. Residents linked to online drug sales were arrested, including three men in Yukorichirchik district found with 37 vials of Tropicamid and 124 capsules of Pregabalin, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Police officers later detained two more “stash operators” in Tashkent, uncovering 1,186 Pregabalin capsules and 125 Tropicamid vials hidden across multiple districts. Investigations revealed the drugs originated from a lab in Sergeli district, where four individuals, 26 and 39, were arrested. Officials seized 5,130 Pregabalin capsules (10 kg), 75 Tropicamid vials (6 kg), 60,000 empty capsules and vials, and laboratory equipment.

In addition, a man in Shaykhantahur district was caught with over 24,000 doses of potent prescription drugs, including Pregabalin, Regapen, Lyrica, and Perge, reportedly purchased from smugglers in Kyrgyzstan for resale in Tashkent at $34,000.

All suspects are facing charges under Article 251¹ of the Criminal Code and have been placed in custody. Investigations continue to identify and apprehend accomplices in Fergana Region.
