A formal ceremony has been held in Minsk, Belarus to award Vasilina Mitskevich the title of Tourism Brand Ambassador of Uzbekistan, marking a new step in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
Mitskevich, who serves as the Chief Curator of the Yakub Kolas State Literary and Memorial Museum, is also the granddaughter of Belarusian poet Yakub Kolas, known for his literary tributes to Uzbekistan and its people, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The event brought together diplomats, members of the Belarus-Uzbekistan Friendship Society, writers, cultural figures, and journalists. Participants highlighted Yakub Kolas’ warm depictions of Tashkent and Uzbekistan as symbols of hospitality and intercultural friendship, sentiments that continue inspiring cooperation between the two nations.
In her acceptance speech, Mitskevich expressed deep gratitude:
“I am truly honored to receive this recognition. I will continue promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism appeal, its rich heritage, unique traditions, and vibrant culture. I believe Belarusians’ interest in Uzbekistan will continue growing.”
Her appointment is seen as part of a broader initiative to enhance Uzbekistan’s international cultural outreach, promote its tourism potential, and deepen people-to-people connections between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
