Uzbekistan Begins Regular Container Train Routes to Europe

Uztemiryulkonteyner company has successfully launched regular container shipments from Uzbekistan to Europe via Turkmenbashi port in 2025, fulfilling the president’s directive to transform the national railway network.

Under Presidential Decree No. F-70 dated December 31, 2024, key tasks included establishing regular block-train routes from Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan’s ports, including Turkmenbashi, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

In 2025, the company organized container shipments to European countries through Turkmenbashi, dispatching 18 block-trains carrying mineral fertilizers, potassium, urea, aluminum, and copper.

From Sergeli station, 380 containers were shipped; from Nazarbek, 228; and from Assake, 25. Destinations included Italy, Greece, Türkiye, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, and other European countries.

The launch of these block-trains is strategically important for expanding Uzbekistan’s export potential, diversifying its transport and logistics system, and boosting competitiveness on international transport corridors.
