Uzbekistan Dismisses Over 50 Judges in Judicial Shake-Up

In Uzbekistan, 59 judges were removed from their posts in 2025 as part of changes within the judicial system.

Speaking at a press conference, Alisher Usmanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, said that three judges were convicted of corruption-related crimes, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

He clarified that the convictions were specifically for accepting bribes, rather than for issuing unlawful court rulings. All three are currently serving their sentences.

Among the remaining 56 judges who left office, six were dismissed for violating the Code of Judicial Ethics, while ten were removed for breaches of legality in the administration of justice. One judge was dismissed for committing an offense that damaged the honor and reputation of the judiciary.

In addition, 35 judges stepped down voluntarily, submitting written resignation requests, while the powers of four judges were terminated due to their deaths.
