Uzbekistan Dominates Medal Table at Inaugural World Boxing Championships

Uzbekistan’s national boxing team finished first in the overall medal tally at the World Championships in Liverpool, the inaugural senior event organized by World Boxing, the new governing body established in 2023 that now represents 118 countries.

Eighteen Uzbek boxers - 10 men and 8 women - competed at the tournament, securing a total of 11 medals, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The men’s team dominated the competition, claiming six of the 10 weight categories. The remaining four gold medals were won by Kazakhstan. On the women’s side, Uzbekistan earned one silver and three bronze medals.

While Uzbekistan topped the overall medal table, it ranked second in terms of gold medals with six, trailing Kazakhstan’s seven. India rounded out the top three with two golds.
