Uzbekistan Enhances Border Surveillance with Bayraktar Drones

A newly formed special unit equipped with Bayraktar operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has begun active patrol duty along Uzbekistan’s state border.

Currently, 42% of the country’s border areas are covered by video-surveillance systems, and over one thousand kilometres of fibre-optic communication lines have been installed to support monitoring and communication needs, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Authorities report that the Border Troops are fully supplied with weapons and ammunition. Fleet readiness has significantly improved, with vehicle availability at 98%, watercraft equipped at 88%, and electro-optical systems installed at 78% of required levels. Units are also equipped with modern unmanned aerial platforms, including the newly deployed Bayraktar drones.

Produced by Turkish company Baykar, Bayraktar drones are medium-altitude, long-endurance UAVs widely used for reconnaissance and precision-strike missions. The well-known Bayraktar TB2 model has been exported to multiple countries and is recognized for its low operational cost, high reliability, and effectiveness in modern conflicts.

Equipped with advanced optics, laser-guided munitions, and real-time surveillance capabilities, the Bayraktar drones are versatile platforms for border security, counterterrorism, and battlefield operations. Their operational success has fueled growing international demand for Turkish UAV systems.
