Uzbekistan Joins Global Breast Cancer Awareness Drive with “Early Detection Saves Lives” Campaign

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide, and Uzbekistan has joined the global initiative with a campaign under the slogan “Erta aniqlа - hayotni saqla” (“Early Detection Saves Lives”).

Led by the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President of Uzbekistan, the awareness campaign is being implemented in collaboration with the Institute for Health and Strategic Development, UNFPA Uzbekistan, healthcare professionals, civil society groups, and private sector partners, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

This year’s campaign aligns with Uzbekistan’s recently approved State Program PP-402, “On Measures to Improve the System for Monitoring Oncological Diseases Among Women,” signed into law by the President in late 2024. The program sets the foundation for a comprehensive action plan for 2025-2030 focused on reducing breast and cervical cancer mortality through prevention, early diagnosis, and improved treatment access.

As part of the initiative, Uzbekistan will begin phasing in national screening programs targeting women aged 30 to 65, integrated into the primary healthcare system. The program also includes investments in diagnostic infrastructure and capacity-building for healthcare providers to support early detection and timely intervention.

Officials say the campaign underscores Uzbekistan’s growing commitment to women’s health and highlights the importance of public awareness, coordinated national policy, and strategic partnerships in tackling oncological diseases.

Health authorities encourage women across the country to take advantage of screening services and spread the message that early detection can save lives.
