Uzbekistan Makes History with Record 27 Medals at CIS Games

Uzbekistan’s national team has delivered its best-ever performance at the Third Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games, setting a new national record with 27 medals and cementing its status as a rising powerhouse in regional sports.

The Games concluded on October 5, with Uzbek athletes earning a total of 10 gold, 6 silver, and 11 bronze medals - the highest tally for the country since the inception of the CIS Games, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Golden Glory for Uzbekistan

The Uzbek contingent dominated several disciplines, particularly combat sports, where athletes brought home a remarkable 10 gold medals:

Boxing: Nazokat Mardanova (50 kg), Sabina Mirzaeva (52 kg), Kumriniso Imamalieva (54 kg), Farzuna Ruziyeva (57 kg), and Rushanabonu Isaeva (62 kg)

Judo: Zarina Bobonazarova (over 70 kg) and Alibek Durdiev (over 90 kg)

Fencing: Men’s sabre team

Freestyle Wrestling: Ozodbek Alijonov (55 kg) and Jamshid Yusupov (80 kg)

These victories reflect not only individual talent but also the country’s growing investment in elite sports development.

Silver Success Across Disciplines

Uzbek athletes also claimed six silver medals, showing their competitiveness in a variety of events:

Judo: Saodat Karabaeva (48 kg), Musurmonkul Ahrorov (90 kg)

Fencing: Women’s épée team

Karate: Bonu Egamberdieva (68 kg)

Women’s Wrestling: Nafisa Shomurotova (43 kg)

Shooting: Javokhir Sokhibov (10m air rifle)

Bronze Strength Shows Team Depth

A further 11 bronze medals underlined the team’s overall depth and consistency, particularly in judo, where Uzbek athletes delivered multiple podium finishes:

Judo: Mokhinur Olloberganova (40 kg), Alina Kolyuchyova (44 kg), Nigina Umurzakova (52 kg), Maftuna Akhmedova (57 kg), Zukhra Umarova (63 kg), Dilshod Karimov (60 kg), Sanjarbek Ashurov (66 kg), Sadulla Ravshanov (73 kg)

Karate: Mokharoyim Hakimjonova (over 68 kg), Shukhratjon Namozov (84 kg)

Freestyle Wrestling: Ibrokhim Aliev (65 kg)
