Uzbekistan will phase out cash payments in several sectors beginning April 1, 2026.
A presidential decree, signed on December 10, 2025, mandates that sales of oil and gas products as well as electric vehicle charging services at gas stations be conducted exclusively through bank cards and electronic payment systems, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
As a result, gas stations across Uzbekistan will no longer accept cash starting April 1.
The decree also bans cash transactions in the purchase and sale of housing and automobiles. The measures are intended to promote wider use of non-cash payments and to curb the country’s shadow economy.
