Uzbekistan and Myanmar are stepping up economic cooperation by preparing for a joint business forum scheduled for August, coinciding with the visit of a Myanmar business delegation to Uzbekistan.

The plans were discussed during a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan with a delegation from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), led by Secretary General Khine Khine Nwe, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.

Around 50 representatives from Myanmar's leading companies and business community are expected to participate in the forum, which aims to strengthen trade and investment links between the two countries.

The two sides explored opportunities for cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including agriculture, food processing, textiles, footwear, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, chemicals, jewelry, tourism, healthcare, and education.

Following the talks, both countries agreed to expand direct business-to-business contacts, strengthen cooperation between industry associations, and sign a memorandum of understanding between their respective chambers of commerce to deepen long-term economic partnership.
