Kazakhstan’s low-cost carrier FlyArystan will launch direct scheduled flights between Almaty and Urgench starting September 3, making travel between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan faster and more convenient.
The new route will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, strengthening transport links between the two neighboring countries while supporting the growing demand for regional tourism, The Caspian Post reports via UzA.
The direct service is expected to increase visitor numbers to Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region, one of Central Asia’s most historically significant destinations. Home to the ancient city of Khiva and the Ichan-Kala UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khorezm is renowned for its well-preserved architecture, rich cultural heritage, traditional handicrafts, and distinctive local cuisine.
Ahead of the route’s launch, tourism officials showcased the region’s attractions to travelers from Kazakhstan as part of a broader campaign promoting cultural, pilgrimage, and gastronomic tourism in Khorezm.
