Uzbekistan Overhauls Presidential Administration to Boost Efficiency

Press-Secretary of the Uzbek president Sherzod Asadov has announced that President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a comprehensive restructuring of the Presidential Administration aimed at increasing efficiency and responsiveness in state governance.

The move comes following the signing of a presidential decree titled “On Measures to Enhance Efficiency, Proactivity, and Results in the System of State Governance”, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

Under the new structure, the Administration and affiliated institutions will see the elimination of 284 staff positions, with overlapping roles consolidated to improve operational efficiency.

The reform outlines five strategic priorities that will shape administrative focus moving forward:

Education

Business Environment

Judicial and Legal System

Healthcare

Water Resources

To ensure the effective implementation of reforms in these key areas, the Administration will introduce five new Deputy Head positions, each overseeing one of the designated sectors. The decree also provides for the appointment of presidential representatives for targeted strategic directions.

In a major media-related shift, the Agency of Information and Mass Communications has been dissolved. In its place, the government will establish a National Content Production Center, centralizing efforts to enhance the creation and distribution of domestic media content.

Officials say the restructuring reflects President Mirziyoyev’s commitment to streamlining governance, reducing bureaucracy, and accelerating reform efforts across critical sectors of national development.
