Uzbekistan, Tatarstan Forge Strategic Partnership in Chemistry, Innovation

A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Uzkimyosanoat company has paid a working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan to advance scientific, technological, and industrial cooperation with Russian counterparts.

The Uzbek delegation, led by Evgeniy Korzhikov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board, and Abdukhamid Salomov, Head of the Department for Localization and Import Optimization, held extensive talks with local institutions and academic bodies, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The program included strategic meetings with Kazan Federal University (KFU) and the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences, where both sides explored potential collaboration in areas such as composite materials, petrochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and small-scale chemical production with a focus on import substitution.

At the A.M. Butlerov Institute of Chemistry, the delegation was briefed on cutting-edge research in heterogeneous catalysis and polymer composite development. Later, during a meeting with Dmitry Pashin, KFU’s Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Innovation, officials discussed mechanisms for joint industrial-focused innovation and international research partnerships.

In the Technological Park, Director Mikhail Varfolomeev presented applied research projects, including production-ready reagents and catalysts already in use at several Russian facilities. Talks also centered on technology transfer to Uzbekistan and the establishment of joint laboratories.

The Uzbek delegation also visited KFU’s Pharmaceutical Research and Education Center, where they discussed dual training programs and workforce development with Vice-Rector Ilnur Khairullin.

A high-level meeting with Rifkat Minnikhanov, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, focused on broadening cooperation in the chemical industry, localization of production, and the development of competitive, import-substituting technologies.

The visit underscored the growing momentum in Uzbekistan-Tatarstan cooperation and opened the door to a new phase of joint research, technological exchange, and industrial innovation.
