Uzbekistan, Bahrain Boost Ties with Focus on Internal Security

A high-level delegation from Uzbekistan has held official talks with Bahrain’s Minister of Interior, Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and enhancing the exchange of expertise in internal security.

During the meeting, Sheikh Rashid commended the comprehensive reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan in recent years, highlighting their tangible results and the country’s rising profile on the global stage, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

He emphasized Bahrain’s keen interest in expanding collaboration with Uzbekistan, particularly in internal security, and expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of reforms initiated under the leadership of the Uzbek president.

The discussions focused on advancing a broad range of joint initiatives between the two interior ministries. Among the proposals was the organization of a visit by a Bahraini delegation to Uzbekistan, led by Minister Al Khalifa, as well as the creation of a bilateral advisory council to oversee cooperation efforts. The inaugural session of this council is expected to take place in either Tashkent or Manama.

Both sides agreed on the critical importance of exchanging expertise in counterterrorism, combating drug trafficking, and public safety. Plans were explored to host short-term training courses in the capitals of both countries, conduct joint field exercises at Bahrain’s security facilities, and appoint liaison officers to ensure effective coordination of future activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to establish close working ties between the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riyadh and Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior to ensure the systematic implementation of these initiatives.
