Uzbekistan has strengthened its dedication to child protection by officially joining the Pathfinding Global Alliance on Ending Violence Against Children, UNICEF Uzbekistan announced.
Uzbekistan is the 46th country to join the alliance, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
This step builds on significant progress, including the adoption of the Law “On Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence” in May and the ongoing development of an intersectoral strategy and action plan aimed at ensuring effective protection for every child.
UNICEF, together with the Uzbek government, will work to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and supportive environment.
The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Violence against Children, Najat Maalla M’jid, also welcomed Uzbekistan’s membership, saying: “Uzbekistan is now part of a growing global movement focused on prioritizing investments in child protection and ensuring that every child grows up safe, supported, and free from violence.”
