Uzbekistan and Russia have agreed to deepen cooperation in garlic production, signing a new memorandum aimed at modernizing the sector and expanding export potential.
The agreement was reached following talks between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Kakhramon Yuldashev and representatives of the National Association of Garlic Producers of Russia, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Discussions focused on advancing garlic cultivation through modern agrotechnologies, including the use of high-yield varieties tailored for export markets. The sides also explored adapting Russian breeding developments to Uzbekistan’s climate conditions.
The partnership will promote knowledge exchange between farmers, support the development of value-added processing, and help producers access new international markets. A strong emphasis was placed on implementing global certification standards to improve competitiveness.
Additional initiatives include training programs, field demonstrations, and professional development courses aimed at strengthening farmers’ skills and building a sustainable raw material base.
The signed memorandum sets the foundation for joint projects in garlic cultivation and processing.
