Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city is set to receive 330 additional electric buses from China, with the first 80 vehicles expected to arrive soon.
Rahim Tozhiyev, Head of the Samarkand Transport Department, and Odiljon Abdullaev, Director of “Samarkandyolovchtrans” state enterprise have recently visited the Yutong manufacturing plant in Zhengzhou, China, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
The plant spans 112 hectares and employs around 30,000 workers, including 3,000 engineers, and holds over 2,300 patents.
Currently, 100 Yutong electric buses operate in Samarkand, and both sides highlighted the importance of expanding service and maintenance capabilities to support the growing fleet.
The new procurement includes an immediate purchase of 80 buses, with plans for 250 more. Yutong has pledged to tailor production to regional needs and provide full technical support.
