Uzbekistan has significantly ramped up electric vehicle (EV) imports amid rising domestic demand.
Between January and September 2025, the country imported 40,345 EVs from 16 countries, representing nearly a 2.5-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
According to the National Statistics Committee, the total value of the imported EVs during the reporting period reached $473 million.
China emerged as the largest supplier, delivering 39,798 electric cars to Uzbekistan. Other notable contributors included Hong Kong with 249 vehicles, South Korea with 165, Germany with 43, and the United States with 25. Vehicles from other countries accounted for 65 units.
As electric vehicles gain traction, industry experts anticipate further expansion of infrastructure, such as charging stations, to support the growing number of electric cars in Uzbekistan.
