Residents in Uzbekistan are reporting a surge in phone calls from numbers beginning with the international code +98, associated with Iran.
Authorities and experts are warning that such calls may be part of scam attempts targeting personal data, The Caspian Post reports.
Fraudsters often use unknown international numbers to trick users into answering or calling back, potentially exposing sensitive information or enabling unauthorized access to accounts.
Security specialists advise users not to answer or return calls from unfamiliar international numbers, especially those they do not recognize. Engaging with such calls may increase the risk of data theft, financial loss, or identity-related fraud.
