Armenia and Zimbabwe Hold Inaugural Political Consultations

Armenia and Zimbabwe held their inaugural political consultations, co-chaired by Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan and Zimbabwe's Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Albert Chimbindi.

The consultations were preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe on holding political consultations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.

During the consultations, the parties discussed prospects for expanding the bilateral agenda, including promoting cooperation in agriculture, education, information technology, capacity building, as well as trade and economic sectors, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

The officials emphasized the importance of broadening the framework of cooperation and deepening existing collaboration between the two countries within multilateral platforms and international organizations.

The officials also exchanged views on a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the process of institutionalizing peace in the South Caucasus and recent developments in Sub-Saharan Africa.
