The Armenian delegation will not be attending the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) summit in person in May 2025 in Minsk, Belarus. Instead, they will participate remotely.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this announcement during a session of the Supreme Council of the EEU, responding to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s proposal to hold the next council session in Minsk, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
The premier stated that Armenia does not oppose the decision but will join the session remotely. He reiterated previous statements regarding his visits to Belarus, emphasizing that his stance remains unchanged.
“I do not think this is the appropriate format for discussing these issues,” Pashinyan noted in response to Lukashenko’s proposal.
On June 13, 2024, Prime Minister Pashinyan declared that neither he nor any official representatives of Armenia would visit Belarus while Alexander Lukashenko remains president.
